Shadecom have been supplying shade sails and shade structures to Brisbane and the Gold Coast for over 20 years. Shade sails have become a very important part of Queensland living and are a great way to protect people from the harsh Brisbane and Gold Coast sun.
The Australian climate can be very damaging from the effects of UV rays, severe storms, wind and hail. Protection from these elements needed to be simple, effective, affordable and designed to withstand the conditions.
Our first installations were free standing hip roof structures with high UV blockout shade cloth covers. These structures satisfied all of the above requirements and are still being manufactured and installed today, with most of our original units still in use. In some difficult or irregular shaped areas where a hip roof structure was not possible, the need for alternative designs was required with the most practical solution being free form shade sails. Sails require solid support posts or anchor points to allow the shade fabric to be stretched taut to prevent sagging. Shadecom works closely with architects and engineers to continue our development in this field.
